BEHIND THE BRAND - Library of Trees Collection

The liner in the Library of Trees is composed of the branches of a western red cedar - our provincial tree. This series was inspired by my time working in forestry, from a tree planter throughout BC and AB, to an advisor on forest policy in BC. This province is iconic with its host of Trees, its diversity of softwoods - and its truly has some of the most beautiful ecosystems.

  • The Hollow Tree; inspired not only by the tree in Stanley Park, but by one of Canada's most beloved artist, Emily Carr, who expressed so intimately the West Coast of British Columbia.
  • The scent Raven was also inspired by Emily Carr - her pet Raven was Tanoo.
  • The Lions is inspired by the Twin Peaks or the Twin Sisters that can be seen from Vancouver.
  • The Lions are the oldest plutonic rock on the West Coast of Canada. The scent in the Lions is that of the forest that surrounds the Lions - Interior Douglas Fir, Cedar Hemlock with lush floors of fern.

Library of Trees is inspired by the majestic Forests of the Pacific West Coast. Each scent note evokes the verdant bounty of Ponderosa Pine and Western Red Cedar tones swirling in layers of Juniper with hints of cloves and gilded shades of autumn leaves nestled in a summers fig.

The wise seeker forges forward in search of new land laden with the highest quality seeds and seedlings. For within the rich textured Forests, you will find peace, harmony, wisdom and abundance to illuminate your journey.
ARBUTUS
  • fig
The yearning of a summer’s fig, embraced in silhouettes of musk.

Soaring high upon the cliffs of the sea to sky, canada’s only broadleaf
evergreen tree, with its signature smooth red, peeling bark – twists and
turns reaching for the sun. Revered as the most sacred tree of the pacific
northwest, known as the tree of knowledge, depth and integrity; balancing
darkness and light.
GOLDEN SPRUCE
  • amber
The legendary Sitka spruce once stood 165 feet tall, with shimmering golden needles – a rare genetic mutation that caused its leaves to be golden in colour, grew upon the banks of Haida Gwaii; where the patient observer would find that trees are fed by salmon and eagles can swim. The mythical golden beauty inspired a magical experience of nature.

Sweet honey coats of rich musk and woodsy notes as they cast a warm golden glow.

SEEDLING
  • linden
Gilded shades of autumn tree leaves exhale a sigh of the sweetest blends of alpine honey and lemon zest.

Evanescent in nature, the wise seeker forges forward in search of new land laden with the highest quality seeds and Seedlings. For within the richly textured forests, they will find peace, harmony, wisdom and abundance to illuminate one’s journey.
THE HOLLOW TREE
  • western red cedar
British Columbia’s provincial tree, its charming display and exotic hints of clove and gaiac wood are embraced by rich vanilla – comforting and nurturing through renewal and resilience.

A Stanley Park landmark; The Hollow Tree, a Western Red Cedar, Thuja plicata, has watched over the Park for over 800 years.

THE LIONS
  • birch
A softly painted shimmering ashen spire of sun-baked birch woods reaches the night sky with floral swirls of bergamot and eucalyptus.

Known as The Lions, the grandiose twin sisters of the Coastal Mountains, towering and reaching toward the night sky. Their valleys hold sacred blessings, laden with the richness of family histories, rooted in spiritual values.
