First things first, let me introduce to you Neal's Yard Remedies. They are a British based line of organic natural health and beauty products. Founded in 1981 in Covent Garden, London, Neal's Yard likes to think of themselves as pioneers. In the present day beauty market we are fortunate to have more awareness and understanding of the importance of natural remedies, however when Neal's Yard opened their first shop in Covent Garden, they were one of the few pushing against the synthetic chemical approach to skin and health care. With over 30 years of experience with natural remedies, this line offers amazing beauty essentials to add into your everyday routine.

To get to know the brand, we were lucky enough to have a Q+A with Susan Curtis, the Director of Natural Health at NYR in the UK!
K+M: Give us a little introduction of who you are, what brought you to NYR and your role within the company?
SC: My background is in natural health and I passionately believe in the benefits of plants to enhance our health and wellbeing. I have worked with NYR since the early days in the 1980s and am proud to be a part of the growth in awareness in natural and organic health and beauty. My role in the company is in product development, training and helping to ensure the ethical supply chain of our herbs and oils – so I am lucky enough to visit many of our fair trade and organic projects all around the world from Ylang Ylang oil production in Madagascar, to frankincense in Oman to cinnamon oil from Sri Lanka.
K+M: What is your personal philosophy on natural skincare?
SC: I have always been a fan of natural skincare because I love the gentleness of the products and the natural perfume created by essential oils; and I’m really pleased that nowadays clinical trials and research is backing up what we have always known – that natural and organic works as well as synthetic chemicals for it’s benefits to the skin and its anti-ageing properties.
K+M: What sets NYR products apart from the rest?
SC: The care that we take with every aspect of our products from the recyclable packaging, to the suppliers of our fabulous natural ingredients, to the fact that we actually make all of our products in our eco-factory, and of course the quality and efficacy of the products – they are really lovely to use.
K+M: Being such a multi-purpose product, what are your favourite ways to use the Wild Rose Beauty Balm?
SC: This is everyones favourite because it is so multi-functional and smells gorgeous. Because I travel a lot visiting many of our suppliers around the globe it’s really useful to have a ‘one pot wonder’ - and I use it as a body balm, facial cleanser and moisturiser and a hair conditioning treatment – and people are always commenting on how lovely it smells.
