    staycation glow

Winter is over (well… we are all wishing it so), spring is on the horizon (more so for those enjoying a sandy tropical spring break) and the though of exposing my legs to the world is petrifying (mostly due to the fact that shaving has been optional). My winter white legs are completely the opposite of golden glow perfection of say Jennifer Lopez. When you think of luminescent skin you think JLO right? Right! She is a master of the glowing game.

So for those of us sad sacks who don’t get to partake sunny spring break fun, let's fake it!

    First step. Exfoliate.

This means slough off any build up a dead dry skin cells (lovely thought) that accumulate. A brand new product to Kiss and Makeup is Buddy Scrub. A raw cacao exfoliator from Australia that scrubs, nourished, and moisturizes the skin.

Tis all natural, chemical free and smells like yummy chocolate orange. Bonus side bar this scrub helps against dry skin, blemished, eczema, psoriasis, cellulite, stretch marks and scarring. Get in the habit of doing a scrub twice a week you will notice a difference in your skin’s overall texture and health. Have a look at their @buddy_scrub instagram it's quite cheeky.

Step two, fake it till you make it with Self Tanner.

Just because you’re not getting an overload of vitamin D, your skin doesn’t have to look that way. Second brand new product from again Australia this month is ECO TANa completely certified organic and all natural self tanner!!! Slow-clap here… I’ve been on the hunt for something like this for a long while. Fake tanners are usually just that chemically loaded and fake. Eco Tan has no hidden nastiest!

There are 2 product options here; their Invisible Tan to give winter skin a one-two punch and Winter Skin a gradual approach to a golden glow. It's easy to use, didn't streak or turn me into an oompa loompa.

Here's my legs after on application of Invisible Tan.

     Step three, protection. Sunscreen.

Now that you have a golden base tan achieved a non-aging by sun damage kind of way, let’s sunscreen. Those of you who know me, know my sunscreen obsession. 70% of aging is due to sun damage. You should wear sunscreen ever day (even if you are at home and not on a tropical vacation!). Seriously, everyday on your face, neck, chest, arms and hands. When those legs see shorts them too. If you are one of those “I don’t burn” people because I have a tan you’re still incurring sun damage you just can't see it.

Don't believe me go look at this video by Thomas Leveritt on "How The Sun Sees You."

2 sunscreens companies that we are big fans of are Coolaand Soleil Toujours. Both are natural organic, and have no hidden crap etc etc. For your face Coola Mineral Face SPF 20 Rose Essence tinted moisturizer is lovely. It works to give skin a nice even tone with a radiant glow. Then Soleil Toujour Continuous Mist SPF 50 because it’s a mineral sunscreen spray that smells absolutely amazing, absorbs in phenomenally without any white residue. Get in the habit. Seriously, just do it!

    Step four. Illuminate.

Finally, all over luminescence with help from Prtty Peaushun. This product is Hollywood’s red carpet best kept secret. Used by A-lister from Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Tracy Anderson, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchette…. Litereally the list goes on and on. Use it on your legs, décolletage and even on your face to a beautiful, subtle light reflecting glow. Another side bar… Totally natural and organic but the infusion of natural plant extracts also help lift, firm, tighten, diminish appearance of cellulite, varicose veins! We love multi action products.

So, I might not have made it to the beach, but I now sure look like I did.... shhh don't tell.

    Kisses. hh
